I disagree with that lead test. One of those layers was alligator. Definitely leaded. I think you should test before the stripper or sand some paint off and test the sanding dust. You can hear you're wearing a respirator though. And gloves. So you're safe. But I think you caused a false negative with the stripper's chemicals.

We had an old dresser my family used as a vanity in a bathroom. In a 1920s house My brother and his wife took it home after a new house was built. When we had it it looked plain. So much paint on it! They stripped it and it had all kinds of neat patterns carved into it. Didn't know it was tge same piece of furniture.

There should be a special prison for people who paint real wood furniture.

Из говна никогда не сделать конфетку. Не понимаю зачем тратить время на всякий хлам хоть с подвала, хоть с чердака. После других людей вся мебель воняет старьём и затхлостью. Фуууу Естественно и все вещи, которые разложат в такие комоды, шкафы будет тоже вонять затхлостью. В общем, хлам он и есть хлам, хоть даже и разрисуют красиво.

I've had success with soaking the oil stain with methylated spirits for a minute and then setting light to it. Sounds scary but, MS burns at a very low temperature and if you only let it burn for a short while, it doesn't damage the wood or veneer. Extreme caution needed and some experimentation.

I think I have a lead on the type of wood used to make this chest of drawers. I think it may be Brazilian rose wood. I watched a channel that used a veneer of rose wood and noticed the similarities.
